  • So about applying for a pro licence..a few questions?

So im thinking and i repeat THINKING about applying for a pro licence.
Im holding off till after the nationals to make up my mind. But their is a few things im uncertain about. mainly the licences.
Im from Ireland, but my trainer was saying im better off applying for an english pro licence,as their is less rigmarole, bit cheaper, and more opportunitys.
Now dont get me wrong,im not ******ed going in and thinking im going to be making millions and bla bla bla, but a getting a few days pay for sparring and whatever will be grand for me till i finish collage or even a few small fights whit journeymen bla bla you know what i mean.

To me the quality in the amateurs is just as good if not better then most of the small shows.

So anyway i got away from the question at hand.

I had a look at the BBBOC and i know all about having to get contracts signed by managers and all that.

One thing though, if i am in Ireland can i apply for a British licence????
Or do i need an address or whatever in Britain??
If i remember properly I know alot of boxers go to like malta and places like that for licences.

    so is it possible??

Either way im waiting till after the nationals and probably till next year but just trying to get more info on it.

    I got no clue bro.

The license procedures in Europe tend to be much more strict than here in the U.S.A., especially depending where in Europe you are.

I had a trainer from France who told me it took years of mentorship before yu could be a trainer there, in the U.S. You just fill out some paperwork for the most part, and you can be whatever you want to be in the boxing business.

It's why the biz is full of trash and hustlers here in the U.S.A.

What's your amateur record like? I must warn you only 3% of pro's make a living from it and the rest have other jobs to cover their expenses. I'm 29-8 and my uncle who used to be a thai boxer was friends with a promoter who would offer me £2000 for my first fight if I wanted to go pro however my family didn't like the idea and instead I went the academic route and am studying biomed. Boxing is my passion and I still train but what can you do eh? Anyway good luck buddy.
