Waiting for the guys who claim to go hard every day. Waiting for the quit boxing guys. Most importantly waiting for the guys who tell him to quit despite never themselves going into a boxing gym. Often the ones who don't give actual advice have never sparred in their life.

So you're sparring much heavier guys than you? Then that's why. It's hard to throw hard shots at someone when you know could be in trouble if they return the favor and that's normal unless you are like Charlie Z.

I've had that problem before. Like you I'm the smallest guy in the gym. 133 lbs. I spar guys that outweigh me by 20+ lbs all the time and most of the time it's hard for me to really go hard because I know that they're lot bigger and stronger than me.

Now if you were sparring someone close to your weight and level and you still feel bad or scared throwing hard shots then this sport might not be for you.

when I spar I take it light depending on who it is. if its some random guy trying to prove himself I crack him in his mug to let him know its real and if he keeps coming at me strong I start busting him up

              THANKS GUYS.
              good news though.
i decided to be a bit more cruel and hit my sparring partner (although hes bigger and probably better) at a more realistic power/rate. it felt ****ing good. i overestimate myself too much, they're fine getting hit by me

Have exactly the same problem. Weigh 122lbs and the lightest I've ever sparred was a tall 149 lb guy. Most of the time I was sparring middleweights.....after only three months of training.

You will lose that problem quickly when you spar with someone that is actually trying to hurt you.

I usually spar at a measured pace and don't go too overboard with people in my gym.

One time a new guy came along, he was physically quite big (gym junkie) and I think he wanted to prove something. The trainer asked me to do some light rounds but straight away this guy wanted to hurt me bad.

Long story short I let me hands go with bad intentions just to keep him off me.

I didn't feel bad like I usually would with people I normally spar with.

yes i feel you! when they try to hurt me is when i feel like i can spar freely..
but sometimes i just have to force it to get my fun :P... i am slowly forcing myself to accept that they wont think bad of me for going hard XD

Also most guys i train with are better then me so they punch me as hard as i punch them.
thats the way to think. in boxing everyone gets theirs.

either you can make him pay for his mistakes and allow him to learn from it in the gym. or he will get knocked clean out in front of his friends, family and a bunch of strangers because you were "too nice" to show him the areas in which he needs to improve.

everyone gets beat up in boxing at some point, there is no getting around it.
