Before you go to inclines you should be in pretty good shape. The incline (hills) are not for getting into shape their for enhancing your good condition to better.
I used to road work 10 telephone poles then sprint 50 yards (hard)!
Inner city road work and dodge cars too!!
I think 300 yards of jog than 50yrds hard is pretty good. Get in a good 3 miles!
I would use the sprints every other day and leave them off the mornings or nights I spar!
Here's a hint for you beginners, when you spar get a loosening up routine down and build on it so when you go to compete you have a routine you know and trust! stretch and twist and be completely warm before you exercise and then get into shadow and increase it. Then go light pads and then walk out slowly. You'll need to experiment to see what works best but the bottom line is to get in the ring warm and wet. Go in cold........come out colder!!!! HA!!

combination of both.
long distance jogging gives you a good engine, good overall fitness, keeps your weight down, improves mobility and makes you durable in terms of taking punches.
sprinting makes you explosive, both your movement and your punches. if you do intervals (which you should) it will help you recover quicker as well.
as an amateur you should do more sprinting since you are only boxing 9 minutes and you need to be prepared for an intense and explosive fight more so than a long grinding affair.
