  • A right cross + Straight right.

Ok a straight right is a straight punch.

A right cross is designed to counter the straight right and bend over an opponents out stretched straight right.

My question is do you keep the arm locked in that slightly bent position like with a hook punch? Or do you let the elbow straighten out if it were to miss like with a straight right?

Also does a southpaw ever need to use a left cross or do southpaws only ever have to learn the straight left?

The technique is the same, the only diffence is where you aim... You think too much...

A right cross does not cross over an opponent's straight right. It crosses over their jab.
