No fighter drops 14 pounds in 24 hours!

Originally weight cutting was to allow a fighter with minimal power to move down a weight class so his average to below average power was less of a disadvantage!

Today its used to move up two classes and try to have an advantage with added weight.

Stop the weighins the morning before the bouts and that will solve that problem. Your not rehydrating to 20 pounds over in 12 hours time. Not healthy and you won't perform properly either.

What ever weight a fighter perfoms his best at during spar sessions is the weight you'd like to fight at. If performing your best at 135 is the number than weighing in 126 would be ideal. If 126 is to hard than the junior 130 might be right but with the weighin times today a 135 lightweight could easily be 148 come bell time and your weighing 135 at your best!

Get rid of the junior weight classes and all weighins are the same day as the fight! Then you'll return to a more even playing field! Ray

But with same day weigh ins some guys are still going to cut and get in the ring still dehydrated. I was under the impression they stopped same day weigh ins for this reason, as it could lead to more serious brain injuries or death.

Don't sit there and say NO FIGHTER drops that because thats false.fighters drop 10+ LBS overnight all the damn time... Me one of them am I a p4p top fighter NO but none the less Ive had my fair share of AM fights and pros. On top of that I have seen people/fighters/wrestlers do it all the time.

To make weight, I just normally eat corn flakes the day before my weigh in...I'm normally just a kilo overweight and as cornflakes hardly weigh anything I make weight easily...I think its called a low residue diet?

fighters do it to get an advantage by fighting a smaller man.

if you put 15 lbs on after you weight in, and your opponent only puts on five, you have a 10 lb weight advantage.

in boxing, that's often more than a full weight class, and it has a huge effect.
