  • Everyday when i hit the Bag.....

I go All out I make Sure I'm hitting my hardest with all i got.

I make sure I'm hitting as fast as I can.

and I make sure I'm doing it alright.

What I wanna know is if it's alright for me to also do shadow boxing movements with the bag (along with clenching), and will this in general increase my speed/power.I specifically focus on technique when i shadow box and when I hit the double end bag. So I always figured the heavy bag is what you use to train yourself to use your technique with more power behind it seeing as you lose control.

also when i throw my hooks I whip them anyone ever do this? and what i mean is when i throw my hook my forearm kinda flings backwards like whiplash before the knuckles actually sink into the opponent to me it's faster and harder, But I can't tell if it's causing me to have a joint problem in my shoulder or i'm straining it.

Yup when i shadow that box and when I hit the dual end bag. So I always realized the large bag is what you use to practice yourself to use your strategy with more energy behind it seeing as you come unglued.

The bag is good for many things, with that said, this is the first time that I've ever heard of practicing the clinch on the bag.

With that hook your forearm is not moving backward. Your leaving it stationary while everything else comes with the hook. When it comes to that 'whiping' point, si,ply raise the elbow and turn that thing over. If you catch it at it's correct 'whipping' that thing has sooooo much momentum that just builds faster and harder. I know you know what I am talking about here, others may not. Just be sure to raise that elbow high while it's coming over and be sure to bring those knuckles to 4 o'clock. Turning over a hook..............Rockin'

I don't see what's the point. Its not like your opponent will have arms/punch you back or anything....

In all seriousness, yes of course its alright. And more than that, visualize the heavy being an opponent.
