Shadow boxing is about visualising a real fight. Your combinations do look a little weird at times, maybe because your hands were getting bent, wear wraps next time. Also keep your punches tighter and most importantly visualise!!!! you were so concerned with showing off your speed and combinations, where's the defence? Do you really land all those punches and your opponent only goes for you every so often?

You're just throwing punches. That's not shadow boxing, you need to imagine there's a guy throwing back at you. That means
1. Move more as you would in a fight. You're probably not gonna stand in one place throwing a 12 punch combination while the opponent just lets you hit him in the same exact place...use footwork, circle, go forward, back, use lateral (side to side) movement
2. Keep your hands up and practice blocking/parrying incoming punches and then countering back really fast.
3. Moving your upper body...slipping/ducking/changing the level your upper body is at while practicing head movement too.
In other words...FIGHT.

Rockin' I've been away from the forum but busy at work and multiple boxing gyms, learning my craft. I plan on getting some amateur fights within the year. I took a month off though and put on 15 lbs of some neck and leg (squats and bridging) but far too much fat with it. But I needed a sturdier neck and stronger core, I could feel it when getting hit by the bigger guys. Time to get back at some actual training, at the boxing gym I think. I'll take time and spar for a few months cause won't fight unless I think I'll make a good impression. 189 Lbs at just 5'8" eyeing 165 as a fighting weight. I am stocky like a Mickey Walker type and my shoulders get even bigger after a few months of bag work. Hard stiff jab and crushing right hook. Physically strong but somewhat cautious, preffering to block over slipping punches at this stage. I'm a southpaw with a strong lead right hand. It excites me even now as I write this thinking of fighting and training. I can really slam the big bags and have fun on the jumprope too. Reflex bag drives me nuts though.

you're still going to be rather short for fighting 165lbs, but the lack of hieght will only be a problem if you allow it to be. I would think that you should actually get the 'slipping' punches down early. Walking into a guy with your gloves just held high in front of your face is a tough way to get inside on a guy. All that they would have to do is punch into your gloves and it will disorieantate you and F with your rythme or they could just keep touching you to the body. Get those eyes sharp and get slippin' my brother, you'll be much better off. Remember to try to step in with your slips or you will be left on the outside making the slip meaningless. Good luck bro. If you think that I might be able to help out, feel free to ask....Rockin'

Thanks Rockin'. It's people like you who are part of the reason I came back to this forum.
You're right, I need to get better at slipping, it's something I must master in order to get in range on all these 6'+ ripped lean boxers.
My reach is somewhat long for 5'8", it's 72 1/2 inches. So I'm short but at least my arms aren't too stubby.
