  • Name bad habits you got rid of/are trying to get rid of

I'm pretty sure everyone has either had a bad habit at some point, or had something in their technique that was wrong and coulda became a bad habit.

Me personally I never really had any real bad habits, but sometimes I do forget to bend my wrists. Ive been working on it tho and now they're always bent haha

    Anyone else had bad habits?

Throwing the jab just to be doing something. I tend to throw it even when there's clearly no opening. I need to keep working on drawing the other guy's lead.

Not working when on the inside or moving back or out of position once on the inside.

I am not sure it is a bad habit as long as you do not miss and overextend or throw really sloppy easy to be countered jab. If you touch with the jab your opponent, this should off set his offence and simply bother him

You don't do anything just to be doing it. If you are fighting somebody that knows about boxing, every time that you just stick that jab out there, he's learning. He's timing you, he's seeing how long your arms are...And every jab is easily countered, in one way or the next, especially when you are 'just' throwing it out there.
If you touch me with your jab you aren't offsetting anything I may be planning on doing, and you had better know what you are going to do next- be it step back, throw another punch, whatever-because we are now "in range" and this may be the time I decide to throw something back, react to the jab you are 'just' throwing out there.

                  Overreaching/getting out of balance

Edit: wouldn't say I've completely gotten rid of it, but I've been focusing on it and improving. Still shows up from time to time in sparring, especially against bigger/taller guys

Neglecting defence in exchange for complete offense when I got my opponents on the ropes. I used to get tagged in those situations but I quickly learned to stop being ******.
