  • Are the safest boxers the guys that NEVER move foward?

They only stay stationary and go backwards?

I was thinking every time you step in and step in fast you add a massive amount of your own bodyweight and speed to the power of their oncomming punch.

So I figured why move foward at all, let them move foward as you stay still and counter or if you need to back off at angles?

    Why move foward at all?

You can throw the jab with enough speed n power without a step foward also.

Ok so what happens when you're fighting someone doing the same?

      You wait.

      He who dares wins.

If you dare to wait when the entire crowd are booing you and the ref is shouting at you both to fight and the other person caves 1st and comes to you 1st and attacks you 1st then you probability wise just gained the advantage.

I can't think of one boxer that just waits.

Even the best counterpunchers have enough wrinkles in their game to lead when necessary.

You have to be able to lead at times, even if your style is to counter punch.

I actually think moving forward is the safest way to fight because it improves the chances of you being able to engage on your own terms. I think the "walking down" style is becoming more popular, even for counter punchers for that reason. They apply pressure to their opponents by constantly moving towards them but as soon as they get near that punching zone, they wait for their opponent to engage first then they counter off of their offense. Virtually all of the best fighters today have the ability to do this.

It's faster to act than to react.

True and good point, so why is the highest way to counter punch or intercept?

Why not get in safe ie with head movement blitz them with a fast combo thats really hard to defend/counter ie x2 jab to head, straight to body, hook to head, then pivot/ get out, rinse and repeat? So in n out real fast with fast awkward safe combos.

Why fient till they punch so you can exploit an opening? It requires reactions that are slower than actions ie alot of the time he is gonna land 1st as the initiater despite opening himself up.

              ???

It sounds like you are LUNGING in and not moving in with short quick footwork where you are in balance. LUNGING is a no no but my guess is you need to tidy up your in and out footwork.
You can't just sit there like an Angler Fish waiting for something to happen. Your opponent will get comfortable with this and then plan on countering your counters. You need to be able to attack to keep him on his toes and from not getting comfortable and mix things up.
