If he's a freind and a good sparring partner ask him to not do it!!
If he won't comply then he's not a good mate. As soon as the arm comes out either parry with your left hand and then hook off the motion or throw a right hand/ left hook combo into him.
Personally what I would do is drop slip (bend your knees) under the arm and throw multiple punches into his arm pit and try to hook into his biceps and try to break his arm or dislocate his shoulder with right hands and upper cuts under his arm pit!!!. Also straight right hands into the shoulder joint if he squares up to you. If his hand is opened in any way when he extends it I think of eye gouge right away (accident or not) and anyone who tries to hurt me in a non combat way is in for trouble with me. Thats why I'd ask him not to do that kind of "move" in a spar session with a mate. Its not a part of boxing in many circles and the excuse to measure some one is BS if its used constantly!! Don't let anyone take advantage of you, often times a good sparring partner is hard to find but again if hes playing you, kick his butt!! Ray.

Listen up jerk! If you think a kid who has boxed for 7 months is actually capable of breaking the guys shoulder your a bigger jerk than just a normal sized jerk that you are, OK! As I stated in my post "ask him not to do it" in my circle its not a boxing tactic and many refs will not allow it. If your looking for an internet fight every time I post I will return to ignoring you but in no way do I personally value your opinions. Your entitled to them as the next person but you know nothing about boxing! My point to the young man is much more mental than physical but ofcourse you can't read into that because................................"you know nothing"!! Ray.

Your pathetic to be on a forum giving advise to young people on a sport that you know squat about!! If we were inperson you would have a different attitude I assure you! Some of these kids on here actually know more than you because their involved in the sport.
You've trained no fighters, you own no gym. you have no connections to anyone in the sport yet you think you can actually give good advise. Your the one thats hilarious in a very pathetic way! Cronic liars begin to believe their own lies and your there now young man, again you know nothing of the sport in comparison to me, nothing!!! Ray

In all fairness, the guys advice seemed perfectly logical here... I don't see what he said wrong?

Also, although I agree with you that it isn't a legit boxing move, I'd say it's a good idea for him to learn how to work around that incase he comes up against someone who does it, with a ref letting them get away with it.

On topic, I agree with most of what was said. Parry it to the side and come over with your own shot, duck under and go to the body etc.

T-97 I agree with you on the parry moves as I said and in a real fight my point about concentrating on the arm pit and shoulders is exactly what an seasoned fighter or trainer will do and say to do. Once your unprotected extended arms base and muscles are attacked believe me you'll recoil that arm quickly. The other tactic is to get that extended arm under your arm pit and apply an arm bar pressure to it. Thats how you retaliate against garbage tatics but ofcourse barnyard knows that just ask him he'll tell you as long as he's "read it somewhere"! Ray

In all fairness my friend only used this tactic for a very short time, if he whored it out the whole time i would have asked him to stop. It just annoyed me how dominant he was while using it, (purely because i didnt know to to respond)
Now i feel prepared just in case it is ever used against me again, thx for all your advice

Protect Yourself at All Times, even in the gym! Respect others but if they show no respect for you, move on! good luck, Ray.
