So about the measurements online...

I'm trying to get some boxing equipment but I'm just unsure on the measurements and how accurate to fitting me it will be.

I'm unsure about the Shoes because it seems that 8.5 in US MEN is the same thing in boxing shoes? So is that the definitive answer or is it more to it than just that? Same thing with headgear.

Also in Amateur competition, what oz gloves are used? 10 or 12 oz?

Boxing shoes tend to run a little smaller than sneakers. so if you wear an 8.5 you should get a pair of 9's. I know most sports authoritys carry wrestling shoes which are pretty much the same thing. you could go there or whatever sporting goods store is available to you and try on shoes to see how they fit. they should fit snug like a pair of socks and not too tight.
