  • tips for wrists?

i have bad wrists (possibly cysts) and was wondering if anyone else on here has had wrist problems and could share some remedies i guess for helping to strengthen them, whether that be certain foods or exercises??(i know surgery may be only option if its cysts)..ive tried some exercises, but mostly just the basic things anyone would find right away online, never know what other people have been told or found worked so no harm in asking.

    thanks peoples!

I use a power ball every day, seems to have done my wrists a world of good. Look them up, they're a good little gadget

I do 'wrist curls' with 25-30 lb dumbbells x 20 reps x 3 sets. The muscles around my wrists and my forearms have gotten bigger and stronger since I've been doing this exercise...

Get a 5 gallon bucket and fill 3/4 full of rice. Next, place one of your hands inside and while working your hand down the bucket, twist and squeeze the rice at the same time.

squeezing a rubber ball is one way. Keep doing it until it hurts, then alternate days, so you're muscles have time to heal back stronger. Ther's other ways to, but I'll let others with experience take it from here. I'm an x-drummer with skinny wrists, (not weak, but not very strong either.

I used to practice with heavy woods sticks on a soft rubber pad to build up strengh for rolls and such. I imagine the same thing can go for boxing.

If you're injuring your wrists it's extremely likely it's down to having bad form.
Keep your wrist straight at all times & practise landing shots with the two knuckles nearest to your thumb.

Exercises you can do to help strengthen your wrists/forearms = Wrist curls, hammer curls, chin ups & press ups.

Also make sure you are wrapping your hands/wrists properly!

Yep, positioning, (or angling?) your wrists which in drummer's terms is called armature, is important. It can actually harm your wrist muscles instead of making them stronger if you have bad form, just a matter of paying attention to forming good habits, of which bad habits are easier to form and maintain than good ones.
