    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

hi i need some advice on nerves in the ring, i had my fourth bout yesterday against a 10 bouter in the aba championships. i am very fit lad i train very hard for my fights big runs etc so i can do 3x2 minute rounds easy i do 12 rounds in the gym but im not the type of person that gets very nervous before a fight but for some reason yesterday when i got in the ring i was ok in the 1st round then after nerves just started eating at me, a horrible feeling in my stomach and absolutely through the fight away for me as it sapped all the energy out of me i felt week as piss and like i could rarely let my hands go.. it really has got me feeling gutted because i know myself if i boxed without nerves like the 1st round i could have beat the kid but for some reason it got to me and made me loose the fight... has anybody got any tips on coping with nerves in the ring is there anything you can take that can help this cus this is really gonna mess things up for me thanks for anyhelp

iit takes time and experience to relax in there

try deap breathing excercises and try to build up ur confidence in th ring
if u have belive in urself that u will do your best in there u will prefomr much better

i wish i could help u more but it takes time remember to breath that will certainly help a little

its ok to have nerves and be exicted but what ur talking about i undertstand it can really mess with u

but once u get there ur defens and stamina and abitly to let ur hands go will imporve drasticly

just stick with it and belive in yourslef

Bro I know pretty much a lot about everything but this is something I honestly have not much knowledge. Go to a neurologist and seek proffesional help.

              :wank: This cat knows nothing..............

It's like GHNS said, it takes time and it takes experience.

I don't understand why it happened in this fight but it is something that can easily be worked through.

I remember fighting the jr. national champion, Tarrick Salmaci, in my 5th bout ever. I was nervous but I put on a good show.

It doesn't matter who you are fighting or where you are fighting because it all goes down between the 2 of you with nothing elses affecting the outcome of the bout.

#1 I will say that it takes extreme courage to step into that ring. You've stepped in to fight a few times now. Condition your mind the same as you condition your body, in time the nerves will be forgotten about as you continue to step up to fight.

Like GHNS said, believe in yourself and then just let it happen.........Rockin'

Nerves can definitely rob you of all your energy...consider looking into meditation as a way to control that. Do some research on it...you can learn how to bring down your heart rate and blood pressure with it block out the things that take control over it.

I know Evander Holyfield likes to sing before he fights to control nerves...and Lennox Lewis used to like to nap to help him stay calm. Singing in a way is like chanting...the idea is if you try to make your mind focus on 1 thought as opposed to letting it fly in a million directions...you will clam down. The busier your mind is processing many thoughts...the faster your heart will work to supply energy to the brain. If you concentrate on slow deep breathing and take your pulse before and after you should see a drop in pulse rate.

Have somebody teach you, or learn some breathing exercises. That's usually where the anxiety comes from. People tense up and at the same time they forget to breathe steadily and consistently.
