Bradley vs Alexander. Bradley was the pressure/brawler while Alexader was the counter puncher. Counter punching was the wrong strategy. Should have control the distance and use angles and land the power shots. Bradley saw Alexanders lack of style knowledge and took advantage of it.

Changing your timing, rythem, and just generally offering different looks doesn't allow for counterpunchers to set traps as comfortably. Change the timing of the jab, feint, roll your head with the jab, jump jab wtv, just keep em guessing.
        IMO

Awkward movements and throwing punches at weird times and angles. Also a lot of punches also and a annoying consistent jab around their face can also slow their tracks.

After I had turned pro I went from a classic boxer to a very agressive fighter who was always pressing. So this other pro shgowed up and we worked, he countered the **** out of me. Did the same thing for about a week and then said to heck with that man.

So we glove up and get throwing again. This time I MADE him press the action. There were alot of times where we just moved about looking at eachother but I had just decided that I was going to box instead of ****.

So he steps in throwing and i take a step back. He does it again and I take another step back and return fire. I boxed his ears off is what Bill Miller told me as I was stepping out of the ring.

A counter puncher hates to lead and press the action. So for the first round I just kept stepping back as he attacked and moved about forcing him to chase me.

The second round I continued with the step back counters but threw in some feints on top of it. I feint, step back and it would draw him out. I watched what he was doing when he was coming forward and then opened up abit, but only when he was trying to attack. I had forgotten how easy a fight could be fighting in this fashion. I feint, he steps in throwing his jab, I step back again and drop a right hand over it as he was coming in.

I danced around and played basically. After he got used to me making him lead I started shooting in jabs. Kinda sharp shooting if you would. Land a jab, step to a side and shoot another. Feint a jab, draw him out, take a step back and open up on him and then move again.

Counter punchers HATE to press fights. He was a very good counter puncher and I did what I had to.

In about the 4th round or so I started leading. He'd walk in again expecting me to step back and hes eating jabs followed by fast right hands. He just wasn't expecting me to lead any more.

This is the thing with fighting, some guys may have your number when working a certain satyle. A good fighter will adapt and make changes when neccesary. Yeah, it pissed me off early when he was countering the **** out of me when I was pressing. It took me abit to quit trying to force something down his throat that he wasn't going to eat. Very few people were able to pick me off like that when I was aggresive and my own pride and ego kept me rolling forward trying to out muscle him. Good fighters will realize when something isn't working and make adjustments no matter what somebody might say about the change in tactics.

To some it up, make a counter puncher wait and wait and wait until he is forced to take the initative. While it might not be your chosen style of fighting it is taking him out of his game. Thats why learning to **** and press is just as important as learning to box in the classic style. You never know what you might be throwing fists against and having both styles is a huge advantage. Counter puncher, make him take the initative no matter how the crowd might boo about the lack of action. Because once you draw him out of his comfort zone the crowd will be cheering plenty as you step back and smack your fists upside his head. It's really not a game of who punches more but more so of who gets hit less with those guys............Rockin'
