when you run outside you get distracted, the time flies by, you get fresh air which cools you down which helps you perform at a higher level for a longer time

on a treadmill there are no distractions. you think about how long you ran and how far etc every single second because the numbers are right in front of you. youre at the same exact spot the entire time. its boring. theres no fresh air, its warm. same with the stationary bike

there are pros and cons to both. but if the treadmill doesnt bore you theres nothing wrong with picking that over running outside. youre still burning the same calories, its not fake running. 1 mile on a treadmill is the same mile youd run outside. its not like outside one mile is longer or harder to run unless you run up a mountain
tell that to the people who run while its snowing or raining. ive ran on a treadmill, ive ran on the street, the street is much harder. especially on the lower back.

if youve tried riding a full suspension mountain bike vs a road bike on the road youd know exactly what im talking about.
alright i think u guys r misunderstanding me, when i say running on a road is better then running on a treadmill, im not just talkin about stamina, im sayin itll strenghtin muscles that treadmills r easier on. if u run 20 min a treadmill ull feel the difference from running 20 min on the road. if u dont believe me try it for urself then come back on this thread and tell me u still think its the same.

you're practically gliding on the treadmill, on the concrete you have to push your body foward

Ive never really noticed a difference beyond running faster and longer with more ease on the road and ive done alot of running on both.

Id say the road/track is defiantly better for sprints/training for speed, but if every bit of long running you did was on a treadmill there wouldn't be a difference had you done it on the road, in fact if you did it all on the tread you'd probably have better knees and better cardio.

no, you do actually have to push your body up and forward in both cases.

right, but the treadmill is helping you run, put one foot down and it's pulling it back for you now just get your other leg and place it infront, repeat

not to mention the treadmill is'nt as hard as the concrete therefore it sends back alot of energy whilst outside the ground is suckin it up

                treadmill is too springy

punch a wall does the wall suck all the energy? now go punch your bed does it send it back to your fist?

not to mention??? not to mention cause its wrong.

the helps you run? yes it helps you run for about .2 seconds after you take your last step.

unless your holding your self up in the air you are still moving your entire body weight when you push off with each foot.

No they're not, when I run outside I feel it 10 times more, and road work gets ur lungs working harder.

Running on a treadmill with no incline is easier than running at the same pace outside. Here is a site displaying approximate efforts on the treadmill:
