I do a lot of my running on my treadmill so clearly I'm an advocate, granted I live in Chicago where it's basically **** weather from October to April so running outside doesn't happen much between those months. I do like to run outside though too when it's nice, especially at night. If you set a good pace and a higher incline on a treadmill I think it's a great workout, not to mention depending on how good the treadmill is, it may have various settings to choose from such as weight loss, intervals, hills, etc. It is easier on the joints too. Don't let internet badasses sway you. Running is running. I would recommend to alternate between a treadmill and running outside on a track or whatever.

treadmills are nice. I like the fact that you can put a tv in front of it and "space out" from running.

You can do it at home, at your convenience... go for it, imo.

No man i've had one .It done me a world of good tho but my staminas higher today than that so I wouldn't today .300 dollars man probably a waste of money .Buy this .I've got this and it's the best training book i've ever bought .You don't need big long runs to loss fat .Only if you struggle to make weight . Use the road that does man .Mix it up , indoor conditioning , sprints , fast runs .F--k long slow runs mate they're no good as it tells you on this dvd .Long runs yes but still run them fast.

I don't like treadmills, but I would run on one over sidewalks any day. Besides, if there's sidewalks, there's most likely a street right next to it. I have no problem with asphalt. But if sidewalk and treadmill were the only two options, as much as I don't like treadmills, I would pick a treadmill. I would run longer and harder with an incline to make up for the difference. It would never be the same, but I rather avoid running on cement. Besides you tried to make it sound like running on the sidewalk was the same as a track. Now you're backpedaling, because you got called out. Very typical of you. Your lack of knowledge is evident, once again.

I love running on the treadmill at my local gym but i dont have a vehicle and it is a long ways from my house and its hard to get a ride. So I figured i can afford this $300 one so id get it.

Are the cheap ones that bad? Or do they run good?

Never said it was the same, so you fail there.. My lack of knowledge? No, you have a lack of knowledge, and youre a ***** if you cant handle running on a street or a sidewalk. I do damn near everyday and yes sometimes my knee or back will hurt, but other than that, its fine and I can always deal with it, not too much pain. So I think what you should have said was, that you were wrong, and youre a *****, who cant handle running on the cement.. That wouldve done just fine, nice try ***

You could go to that track and try something like this or else perform burpees
