Try running after your workout to better burn fat. With sprints you won't have to run as long as you would if you were doing the whole long distance thing. I am going to avoid saying that one is better than the other, so just do whatever you think will work best for you. I usually do about 20 minutes of running/sprints after every workout. I run for a good pace for about 2 to 3 minutes and then I sprint for as long as I can (30 seconds minimum). You'll start building longer sprints more consecutively pretty soon. Just step it up when you need to. So far this has been working well for me. And if you ever want to throw an extra sprint in there go for it. Hope that helps.
