  • Always pulling muscles in boxing

shoulders, hurting my wrists, pulled a muscle in my chest and hurt my elbow all within 2 weeks of training.
I realise boxing is a rough sport but i was just shadow boxing and i pulled a muscle just from throwing a left hook.

I took a few months off and just got back into it but its like my body is very fragile to injuries, pisses me off because i cant train as hard as i like too.

I used to weightlift alot but I stopped training certain bodyparts (such as chest/shoulders/back) because they are already too big. The muscle is still there but ive lost strength. Could this be an issue?

Any suggestions on how to prevent pulling muscles and injuries in general?

Are you at a proper gym and seeing an actual trainer? You are most likely throwing punches wrong, and not warming up correctly.

You need to warm up properly, make sure your heart rate is to a certain point (well round abouts, you know when your warmed up) and then stretch properly.

Do you warm up before the stretch though? Like slow paced running or skipping or anything? Cause you need to get your heart rate up a little and work your muscles a bit before.

are you the same person that throws the wild haymakers, you are lucky you just got a pulled muscle, usually from throwing lunging wild left hook haymakers you would dislocate your shoulder, you must have slow hands and there fore when you threw the wild haymaker it was not enough for a dislocate but enough for a pull, when you get better just start of in front of a mirror and learn how to throw punches by shadow boxing, good luck

well, its an interesting assumption but just to clarify, I dont have slow hands and my techique is decent according to my coach anyway (for my fight I trained with Cornelius Carr who was a minor SMW titleholder in the 90's and even fought Collins for the WBO title)

He thought I was naturally gifted because I was faster than the rest of the fighters in the gym but ive always been prone to injuries, back then and now.
