Why'd you start boxing? For me, I started boxing just to see how I could do. I never got my ass kicked and had been in 14 street fights, (big guys get tested more than smaller guys) every time someone would test me I learned very young to make an example out of that person. So I thought why not apply it to my favorite sport, the sport I always had the most respect for. Boxing...
I know alot of ppl here don't really know me or my background except j knows a lil bit but I felt like sharing it because this is really the only site I frequent here lately. I don't see alotta guys posting intros so here goes.
So I roll around downtown B.R. looking for the place I found in the phonebook. There was another gym, that was more expensive called Gladiators, and they had a good trainer named Frankie Caruso who is an olympian and has great amateur credentials. I just didn't wanna go because I felt more of an MMA vibe. And when I rolled by the place there was a bunch of guys in gis.... I was like **** this (no disrespect, I respect eastern martial arts to great extent. ChosonNinja on youtube has some badass videos look him up- plus theres a guy here that posts named 'j' that's given me alot of good advice on training and I'm pretty sure he's into some kind of martial art. Anyway, moving on..I finally found the place, after stopping and asking a guy where this gym was, and he replied, in a half drunk accent, 'hey whiteboy you dont need a boxin gym u can find a fight right here' lol, I rode out ...Never have been one to look for trouble, lol...Anyway, I finally found the place...the coach, an old black guy named DC, (who I later learned threw a chair at a judge in court lol) that had no front teeth, looked at me and told me to come back at 6, which was 3 hours later.
At first, it was a temporary thing, the boxing. In a month, I sparred the gyms best prospect...less than 6 months later he stopped coming around, it wasn't because of me though..I think it was his girlfriend, but I don't know for sure. But it's Baton Rouge. We are not known for producing great boxers. Clifford Etienne is our latest piece of work. He was a decent hw. Everyone rips on him, but Clifford was a good pro and I respect his work inside the ring. If I had started in say, San Antonio, I likely would've had to deal with much tougher opposition outta the gate. I kept sparring whoever they'd bring around, and never lost. I know they say nobody wins or loses in sparring. I disagree with that statement, unless two guys are 'just working' on a particular move or someone's wearing a body shield, etc etc. This chick I was dating starting doing ******* and ****, so I dumped her. But I loved her, and it really hurt me. I started drinking and quit boxing about two months after that. I am just now getting started again, this was two years ago. I've been working at a company that locates and constructs underground communication lines pretty much since I quit. I've stayed in shape, and maintained some kind of regimen for the last 3 months. But after I broke up with my ex gf, I was a mess. I was drinking 12-14 beers a day. a DAY. I blew up to 322 lbs. No ****. I went from 245 to 322. (6 ft 4in) About six months ago I made a decision to stop what I was doing, because I was becoming an alcoholic.
The one thing I was ever passionate about was boxing. I figured, since I never had been knocked out or even hurt in the ring, and beat up everyone I sparred with, it might be worth it to really take it seriously. Now I'm with a much, much less worldly girl. Also, she can't take my **** four times in a night, like my skank ex could. That's good for a fighter. At least, for me. I need testosterone to maintain a good training schedule. If I nut four times in a day, I feel more bumlike the next day. shrug...Busting one daily is fine, but I'd rather wait two days. My current gf is sore after a nice pounding, after that I can't even touch her for two days. Alright, alright..enough of that...lol..but my point is, now I feel like I got my hands up. My eggs are in a basket that I know, for sure, will never screw me over like my ex did with the drugs..She was a ****** when I met her, (felt the hymen break.) totally against all drugs, pot, pills, anything and everything and rarely even drinks. Never goes out, studying to be a teacher. So with her on my arm I'm thinking about seriously giving it another shot. But taking it real, real serious. I've been training my ass off lately, getting myself back into fighting condition. Because it's time for Kid Dynamite to make history...
