Ah, so that's what the thing is called, Is it possible to keep holding your leg up there or is it just Up and chop down?
Also, you don't happen to have a list over what kind of specific stretches i should be performing?
Well i suppose its possible to hold your leg up, but i can't really recommend it if you're planning to use it in a fight. There are many different variations of the kick; jumping, spinning and jumping spinning variants and also throwing the kick from different angles, all is possible. In regard to stretches, there really isn't any special stretch that will help you, i can only advise you to stretch frquently and progressively and to practice the kick. Also on another point, the axe kick isn't an easy kick to use it does require timing and accuracy to be used effectively in any situation. The main thing about the kick is just to practice throwing the technique in a controlled manner and slowly build height and power
Been stretching all day and already seeing some progress :3, But do you really need to stretch 40 minutes a day? Cause i heard the usual time for holding a stretching pose is 30-120 seconds so that cant be right, now can it?
You're not gonna hold the same stretch for 40 minutes obviously.
What I do is 1.5 minutes hamstring stretch, 1.5 minutes calf stretch, 1.5 minutes each quad, 1.5 minutes glutes each side, and 1.5 minutes each leg touch your toes (forehead to knees). Do that 3-4 times a day and it amounts to about 40-45 minutes of stretching.
That axe kick looks pretty ****in badass, why doesn't more people use it?.. i mean, its like unblockable, 1KO's anything it hits and its quick to perform

Because its not easy to pull off in a fight and if you miss it'll leave you wide open for a big counter. Its takes alot of practice to make effective and also requires alot of confidence to use. There are so many other safer techniques to use that can score you a KO with, e.g. roundhouse kick, right cross. The axe kick can be blocked with a rising block and can also be easily parried by slight lateral body movement and a strong guard.
I agree the axe kick is a great technique but its still a technique out of many techniques.
