  • The little kids that just get in the way of everything. When they are supposed to be training, they are jumpin around and screaming. WHen the gym is crowded and there is no room to do anything.

    • annoys me when people don't go easy on there power in sparring.... I am bantam weight and sparred a guy weighing 75kg, usually I wouldn't spar such a person but this guy was just over-weight but small. the coach said to him, watch your power hes a lot lighter than you... then as soon as the round starts, he starts throwing haymakers and crazy upper cuts, I mean ffs... then he started trying to give me pointers just to enrage me even more. ("try not to defend to often") gee, if you weren't trying to knock my head off.... the guy then moaned how he couldn't fight somebody his own weight (the coach wouldn't match him up with another middle weight), and bragged how he smashe up me and a LWW... the coach then matched him up with a 70kg girl, yes girl, and the girl battered him!

I hate that too, i'm 75 and this guy who is about 120kg comes sometimes to brush up his stand up game for mma. So basically all he tries to do is throw huge bomb right hands. I have to admit though, its making my defence a lot better knowing it has to prevent me from getting my nose broken. It does suck though when they just unload on you and weigh about 20kg+ more than you.

I disagree with not talking to people in gym.... the atmosphere will make or break an upcoming fighter IMO. Obviously when you're training then crack on, but on your 1 min rests and stuff, see no reason to not talk to people or crack a joke. Its one reason our gym won the last competition, becuase we are all friends with each other.

            • There can be many things that someone doesnt like about people...but Ill stick to what I think are important things.

1)Guys who take things personal. I dont care if get my ass beat, I can go to a pub with the guy after for all I care...I expect the same from others.

              2) People who laugh at people for trying new things. Someone here mentioned "when people try to use the philly shell"

Well no one looks good when they try something for the first time, the only way to get better is to keep trying.

**** like guys grilling you down when you come to the gym and all that is bull****...Happens everywhere, not just a boxing gym. Guys not cleaning the equipment after they use it, once again, same thing at any other gym.

You can be friends with each other and the other main fighters. But don't become one of them people sitting around doing **** all. That is when these 'annoying people' get to you. They come in and out of gym like a revolving door, so I never pay attention to them and keep my head down. During 30 SECOND breaks you should concentrate on your next round.

I say high and bye and make small talk with my gym buddies at the end and socialise with a few of them on weekends. You go there to train, and trust me if you have the tools you don't need that camaderie to win tourney's. That was probably more down to quality and coaching than anything else. I don't get annoyed by bums at gym because I'm too focused. That's the way I do it and it works for me
