I'm slowly building up my "boxing cupboard" of stuff because I didn't want to dive in and spent hundreds at the start and I know this sounds totally ****** but what makes boxing boots useful? Do they offer good ankle support because I need some. I get through training fine but things like tuck jumps have become quite painful over the last week and a bit. Running is also pretty tough. As for grip and movement, a normal trainer can do that. All i'm interested in is good ankle support, if they don't do that I don't want them until I need them.

They look slightly different than the ones you posted, and they're WAY cheaper.
Hope they're the same thing, just an older model.
Top Ten stuff's a little harder to get in the States, and the site i ordered from looks like the only local distributor. If you look at that site, they do have both the old and new AIBA Olympic head gear. The prices on the Olympic gloves on the site i posted are also $10 cheaper, $25 cheaper for avante garde headgear, $10 cheaper for the cheek protecting headgear, but your site wins for the plastic face mask by $10.
Oh well, either way they should still be decent gloves, i hope.

Don't run in them.
They have very little shock absorption so if tuck jumps are anything like frog jumps (jumping up with knees to the chest) it's not going to feel too good.
In sparring, a normal running shoe will tend to roll your ankle if you try to do any quick lateral movement; that's probably the biggest benefit that boxing boots allow you.

BTW, I wasn't promoting the site I linked to at all. I just googled and linked the first hit that carried the gloves I was talking about.
Edit: I can see that they don't carry the new leather headgear at your site. Do not buy the ones they do carry, trust me.Last edited by PunchDrunk; 05-29-2008, 01:16 PM.

Mine's just the only US distributor.
I think Superfight3000 is a newer line than the plain old "Fight" line.
If these are that good, i probably won't even bother continuing my quest to get ahold of authentic mexican gloves from mexico (3 hours away) or thai gloves from thailand (taking a trip next year).
Will rotate them in with my IMF Tech gloves, so won't have to worry about breaking them down too much for sparring.
EDIT: ah, so it's the leather, not the avante garde that's the good headgear?

Just got the gloves in
wow, they're a lot different than I expected
they almost remind me of KO gloves with better construction, better fill, and a better shape
they're very sleek - hard to believe they're a 16oz glove, coz size-wise they look more like 10 or 12.
The padding's a lil stiff to get hit with, but it's all over the knuckles so seems a safe glove.
not much in the way of lining - the wrist lining's almost non-existent the glove lining's like some sort of nylon - not very cushiony.
The palm feels like it's just the leather.
IMF gloves feel very similar fill wise, but have much more in the way of lining.
These are probably better than IMF for dealing with hot climates though, as they seem much more ventilated.
First impression is that I don't like the thumb - but will probably just have to break it in.
Remember having to break in the thumbs on my IMF gloves as well.
Cutting the leather attaching the thumb helps.
I'm sure once the leather breaks in they'll be nice.
Still can't get over how low-profile they are; my defense is going to get a lot better.
Will write a full out review on another forum once I actually hit stuff with the gloves.
Cut up my feet over the weekend so kinda waiting till that heals.
