I'm not a fan of running (never have been, but even more so since I broke my leg 2 years ago) but have been committing myself to an hour of excercises in my house 7 days a week since the turn of the year and have noticed a big improvement in my body shape (bigger muscles etc). But, fitness-wise I believe I still have a bit to go. Diet-wise I'm very strict and don't eat junk.

Sorry to hijack your thread Marron but thought I'd ask Rob a wee question. Will hitting the bag increase my fitness? I generally have 15 - 20mins hard work on the bag every night after 40 mins of sit-up, push-ups andd weights. At the end of my bag work I'm an exhausted, sweaty wreck! Surely it's doing some good?!

If you're exhausted at the end of your bag work then yes it'll be doing something. It should cause your muscles to adapt so you don't get as exhausted next time around and your muscles can do more work.

Unanimous, When I'm not training fighters and athletes, I train general people using boxing training. Everything improves quick. Boxing is an anaerobic sport, people aren't used to training this way. Shorter periods but harder work ratio.

Just don't go balls to the wall everynight on the heavy bag, you'll burn out. Yeah, I like the saying go hard or go home, but you dare not overtrain cause you'll be **** and it takes time to recoiver from overtraining. I say you'll be fine with 3-4 rounds of heavy bag work a week. Two of those days do interval punching. for 30 secs. hit the bag as hard and as fast as you can, then for 30 secs. have your training partner do it. You will never really rest as you have to hold the bag foe the onslaught of piunches your training partner is dishing out. Do this for 3 min. 2-4 rounds.

Same thing with jumping rope.. Jump high knee fast for 30 secs. then regular pace for 30. duration 1 min. This WILL kick your ass. Add 10 pushups and 10 reverse crunches as an active rest between rounds to really jack up the intensity. Ps. I tried to post those ab exercises you wanted to see, it didn't work, I try something else.

Cheers for that Rob. With regards the bag, I'm on it everynight but only for approx 15 mins but I do tend to go at it hard till I can't do no more! Pity I haven't got a training partner though as all my excercising is done at home.

Unfortunately I can't jump rope as my ceiling is not high enough, BUT I do ghost skipping, where I have an invisible rope. Don't know if it's doing any good but sure knackers me out! By the way, what's a 'reverse' crunch? At the moment I'm doing what I suppose are 'regular' crunches.

                    90 oz.

That's 2.5 liters, give or take.

I'd say drink this much on days you're not working out. I weigh 12 stone and I'll drink 2 liters of water in a 90-minute workout. I drink a gallon of water on workout days. (3.78 liters)
