  • right pivot foot

    Hey boys and girls,

I have another question in regards to a little nagging injury. Let me preface this by saying i tend to get shin splints although they have lessened over time with more running and leg work. That being said, does anyone ever have an issue with their right shin, calve when hitting the hitting the heavy bag for a few rounds. I throw for 3 rounds or so and my right calve-shin (pivot foot) starts to fugging throb. Anyone have any advice or similar experience??

Yeah. It aches when i do footwork drills, run, skip, hit the bag ... infact it just hurts whenever i train. I thought i might have shin splint in one leg or something.

I have shin splints and sometimes they can be very painful. What I do to help prevent the start of serious pain is as follows:

        a) stretch my calves before I run
        b) wear braces around my shins (you can purchase these at a ****'s Sporting Goods or most likely a Sport Authority...maybe look online but they help TREMENDOUSLY!)
        c) ice my shins after training or running/skipping rope

doing those three things have strengthened my shins and calves more and have allowed me to train more frequently.
