sparring is where u develop skill, yes, and a fight is where you use it, thats my point, if his trainer asks him to fight, that means his trainer feels he is ready to fight at some level of competition, so he should. if he doesnt feel he is ready, that's ok too, he should train some more. all i was sayin is that real fights is where u get ur confidence as a fighter, thats all. old timers said u weren't really a fighter til u lost a fight, so i say get in there and fight, learn, improve.

So back on topic that guy is not the same boxer I will be boxing come my first fight! theres no way in hell im goona have to fight my first fight with a 21 year old pro thats been boxing for 8 years! so simply put I spar him about once a week and the other days i spar taller guys that are within 20-30 pounds my weight
If your pro or ex pro sparring partners are going all-out, not 50 or 75%, and you say you keep up with them pretty close, then you shouldnt even have to ask if your ready, only you yourself can determine that, no one else can tell you

what are you talking about? tell you what, why dont you go spar all out with a pro and come back here and tell us about it! i dont go full out with him he either works with me or we spar light head shots and all out on the body. Ive seen it happen where he and other guys go full out and its not preety at all! hes a beast and he will tear everyone at our gym apart in a full out session(thats something you should already know that most decent pros are capable of doing to average beginner-amatuer fighters).

then there is no use trying to try and brag about how you can keep up with a pro or ex-pro fighter, if he is only giving 50% when you are going all out, that is not a accurate indicator of you being ready, skill or endurance wise

my advice is to spar an already amateur fighter with a decent record, take it if you want, leave it if you dont, you made a post for asking for open advice so I threw some at you, tryin to help you out, no need to get offended

If you feel your endurance is up to where it should be, then focus on your technique an skill, you dont have to put alot of power or speed into your punches, just slow down, make sure your doing everything right, chin is down, eyes up, weight is 60/40, lead leg is where its supposed to be and guard is up, get a video camera and tape your sparring sessions, then review it and pick out your flaws, come back the next week and correct those flaws. I would also go recommend checking out some amateur fights that are in your weight class, so you know what to expect.. Anyways, hope this helps, Good Luck

ya thanks man im always open for tips and advice. Ive only had one chance to catch amatuer fight in person and that was the golden gloves and if anything it was discouraging due to the fighters being soooo good around my weight class and my weight class. it was nuts i even saw some dude get tkoed, it was heavyweights and the dude got caught on the ropes(not to mention he already got a 8 count seconds before)and was getting hit with some hard shots when he was against the ropes and bam he fell threw the ropes onto the judges table lol he got up and tried to stand up and when the ref asked him if he wanted to continue he said no
