In 2 months? You should be a hell of alot better if your training like an animal..

But if your just going through the motions, Not running, not sparring 3 times the week,... then give it a while..

hmm.. i guess the difference is..

do you want to just fight, or do you want to fight and win?

What i'm saying is, you can go have your 1st AM fight and enjoy the experience have the excitement and buzz e.t.c ... but maybe lose. You could do that right now. - And thats not a bad thing! I'm being serious. Being in a boxing show is great. You will also learn alot too.

Or wait.Like Da1 says, go and get better so you get more practice and become more likely at winning.

My point is, you could do both. It depends on whether you want a perfect record - but i will tell you now, i do not know of one long-term amatuer fighter with a clean record.

your thread asks... "do you think i'm ready to fight?" and the answer is yes.

Are you ready to be the favourite and win? ... proberbly, no...but ya never know mate.

Do you see what i mean??

Your ready to fight, and your trainer agrees. Go get that experience!! Go get it.

I think you'll end up fighting . Infact i bet you will - especially if your trainer is as pushy as mine. Be brave and get out there.

....don't go getting yourself ****ing K.O'd and blaming me tho!

The only thing limiting you is your confidence. And thats why I would have voted no you are not ready. If you have to ask that question the answer is always going to be no. I'm sure your trainer knew that as soon as you said you have to think about it.
I love quoting Teddy Atlas in this regard I'll bend this quote to fit any pre fight anticipation
"It's ok to be scared, The other guy is just as afraid as your are. He's going through the same knot in the stomache and butterfly's you have"
Get it right in your head it's only a boxing match. then Get in there

You should do it. You can learn alot from a real match. And who cares if you lose, its about the experience. Too many people worry about a loss in the amatures like they're trying to have a legacy or some ****.

ya guys ive been working super hard latly ive upped my running speed and distance from october i used to run a mile in 9 minutes sometimes 10 now I run it at 6:45-7 minutes and as time pases im only getting better and improving a whole lot. I appreciate your guys input weather u said no or yes. I am not mentally weak I just wanted to see what you guys thought of what i acomplished so far. I know damn sure that you guys have seen more amatuer fights in person than me so I was just needing of input and thoughts. I have only attended one amatuer fight tournament and it was the golden gloves and it was too hard to tell from because the kids werent anywhere near my experience or skill and it kinda discouraged me because the kids were really really really good. Anyway yea guys im giving it 1-2 months, Ill keep you guys posted with training and sparring vids through out the next several weeks!

I would like to see you spar someone else first, you should spar someone from a different gym that has a decent amateur record, or even one from your gym, tell them not to hold back.. An experianced amateur fighter will be throwing ALOT more punches, then the guy you sparred in the videos..

                      Why?
At the moment ( i think ) his goal is to build his confidence. Why throw him in with someone experienced with a decent ameture record? We want him to build confidence dont we? Obviously you'll end up having to spar someone better than you but sicne this is his first fight i'd think he should wait before he spars someone like that. it could damage his confidence alot and that coudl change the outcome of the fight
All of this in my own opinion of course
