  • left uppercut

I have been waiting to test this out in sparring, problem being, I havent been at a gym in years and I dont have the time or money to join one right now.

My left uppercut (im a right handed orthodox fighter) is VERY fast and powerful (for me anyway). Probably one of my hardest and snappiest punches. I really dont know why, it is just a very natural punch for me. I can slip it in out of nowhere, with lots of power and snap and hardly any lead up and I can bring my hand right back to my head quickly.

Sounds great right? Im just worried that its going to leave me open for a right hook. Might be something great to use against a southpaw guy maybe? What do you guys think? Is a left uppercut a good punch to use often if you can execute it very quickly and with lots of power?

work on a left hook to body, left uppercut combination. left uppercut works best after a right hook or right cross.

against a southpaw just focus on keeping your left foot outside of his right foot. if you want one punch they're susceptible to it's the right cross, but if you're short and have shorter arms than the southpaw id just focus on whatever youre best at, and keeping your left foot outside his right foot. frustrates the hell out of them.
