POLL - Left Hook, Palm Down or Palm In ?

This thread IS NOT to discuss the merits of both ways of throwing a left hook (or right hook for that matter), i'm just trying to get some stats, that is all

I only go boxing once a week (and have only started this month) so don't have much experience and haven't actually been taught a hook yet, but naturally I think I'd go palm down.

I know you didn't want people to discuss each way, buuuuuuuuut, is there a right and wrong way?

theres a right and a wrong way to throw a hook, but it has nothing to do with palm in or palm down. that right there is just a matter of preference for the fighter.

as for me, i go palm in, or coffee mug style. its much more comfortable for me.

I find I move faster with my palm down, and being a taller guy, it help "come over top" if that makes any sense.

It is palm in, since I am a shorter guy and throw my hooks compact, throwing them palm in is faster and I can actually put more weight in a punch. IT is also less riskier for me to fracture my wrist when I do it palm in. But if you throw longer hooks, it would make sense throwing them palm down, I guess. Although both Wlad and Lewis(both got long hands and are tall) threw hooks palm in.

for the hook, i use both, so that's how i voted. both are tools, and i'd rather have more tools in my belt than less.
