does he spend alot of time with you, giving you advice and helping you improve your skills?? or does he just walk by you normally even if your training hard?? my coach doesn't seem to spend a whole lot of time with me even though I've been going like 3-5 days a week for like 5-6 months now, probably means either I don't got talent or that I'm doing well so far. I always seem to be working more on my own or with my sparring partner while he's upstairs. Is this common with alot of people??

Well I have 4 coaches but the main one of the 4 I am basically friends with.
I get on with all of them really well, with a lot in common beyond just boxing. The banter in my club I always manage to get caught up in or if i'm not caught in it then i'm laughing my ass off at it. The one that is my main trainer who does the most work with me I talk to about more than just boxing. However in boxing he advises me all the time, every session constant this and that. He works to a model of technical proficiency... so everything is done properly and methodically. Thats been the most effective way for me to improve over the, almost, 2 years I have done the sport.
So yeah real good. When I told my trainer i'm going off to uni in September this year he said ''no, dont leave me!''.

non existant. i swear its a social club and they designate the 'trainer' randomly. i basically just hold focus pads for my brother these days

How the hell would you know, ******, you've never had a boxing trainer (or been with a female for that matter) seeing as the boxing gym that you claimed to be a member of didn't even know who Charlie Zelenoff was when they were called.

Yeah I've heard the same comments from a lot of guys on this site. Its a shame how you can dedicate yourself to something yet the coaches don't show any interest.
I'm lucky in that I get on really well with my coaches and show me a lot of interest and they like my attitude towards training. Maybe you should try another gym and see if there's any difference. Or it could be that the coaches have noticed that you've got talent but don't want to swell your head just yet.
All the best my fellow pugilist!

We have a love hate relationship. We argue like **** but he gets me motivated and fired up so I train hard. Good coach but I couldn't imagine having a friendly pint with him at night...

It was goin good until i got my ribs bruised by this pro that stops in my gym everynow and then... he's 33 like 19-6 or sumthin...last fight he got stopped in the 3rd on the winky right undercard and somehow he's goin to the table to see if he can fight on mayweather undercard...
Anyway.... I'm still AM.. imma be sidelined so i wont b fighting saturday like I was suppose to be... I'm in good shape and have the right mind to wanna go pro... But Am is much different in scoring and all that.. so I'm trying to fit the Am style...
I'm 23-0 in Un-sanctioned by usa golden gloves(So you can say Glorified sparring matches with your coach and a crowd of about 200-500 people.. but no registration so not sanctioned) fights....Had a hard time getting my book in jersey so I came to florida...My fights were a lil illegal in NewJersey because of the betting on it... We get matched Just like shows get matched up and everything.. just not so picky about weight classes...sometimes 10 pounds above me...
so i got the experience... because of my prior fights my trainer moved me down to 165 I'm much faster with my same strength...
lol I know i piled it on but just wanted to be clear on everything...
Thanx for the compliment... but The guy that bruised my ribs is a 19-6 PRO... I'm hardly ready for dawson if I can't beat someone professional with that record...But i love the experiences like this because they are the reason the Am's are so Redicolously easy for me...
