    what's goin on guys

I started boxing about a month ago in a gym with a trainer (not personal trainer, but he gives me advice and tells me what to do)

anway, before that I was heavily in weight lifting for about 3 years. Him and this other trainer told me to stop lifting weights completely as it'll make me stiff and tight. I don't want to become a stick though (i'm in the lightweight weight class), so what would you guys suggest I do? Maybe machines for reps of 15 or pull ups and push ups and body excercises?

get a trainer who aint stuck in the past, most world top oxers use weights, and a correct weighlifting regimewont make you stiff.

10-15 reps is for mass so no, 3-5 for strength and 15+ for endurance

That workout is worthless for boxing. Like Leff said, look through the tons of old topics on the subject, you'll find the answers there.

terrible workout for boxing...and stick away from machines you wanna be using freeweights, i know its kinda sexist but machines are for women over 50
You should stick to compound movements like Barbell Bench Press,Military Press,Rows,Squats and Deadlifts then add in your basic bodyweight exercises like Chin ups/pullups and push ups/sit ups

My junior and senior years of highschool, while I was boxing, I took 3 semesters of a weight traing class. I was lifting on the heavy side and it did make me stronger. However, it also moved me up 2 weight classes. ...........Rockin'

That, AND the fact that it was your junior and senior years, where a lot of people grow significantly.

I saw some hand weights at kmart of all places.(they're look like a cast glove type deal with open fingers, they slide over the hand and lower forearms.) I was thinking that they might be a good way to build speed but I was wondering since I am starting out would they affect my technique.

they only weigh a pound each,.
