    Taylor Ready For Hometown Defense

NEW YORK, Wednesday - World Middleweight Champion Jermain "Bad Intentions" Taylor will don boxing gloves instead of a Santa suit, but he’ll get the opportunity to deliver a present when he defends his title at home in North Little Rock, Arkansas for the first time on Saturday, December 9 at Alltel Arena. Taylor (25-0-1, 17 KOs) will put his title at stake in front of his hometown fans which will be aired on HBO's World Championship Boxing beginning at 10:00PM (ET) / 9:00PM (CT) / 7:00PM (PT) when he takes on former World Champion Kassim “The Dream” Ouma (25-2-1, 15 KOs). The 12-round main event is being promoted by DiBella Entertainment in association with Golden Boy Promotions and Peltz Boxing. [details]

Maybe he'll actually look like the winner and "future of boxing" this time. Of course, in fairness to Taylor, he's shown he's got the balls to take on the very best, which is something that can't be said for some other star-fighters. He fought Hopkins twice and then fought Winky Wright in a three-fight succession. Personally, I had him going 1-1-1 in that series; but hardly anyone can look good against either of those two and usually wouldn't fight them if they had a choice.

So, overall, props to Taylor for fighting the best. He hasn't looked like the best in doing so; but he's bound to have picked up a ton of experience in his last three fights, and, seeing as how he's still a young man, that should bode well for him down the road. He sould beat Ouma with little difficulty.
