That will only get worse as time passes. If Briggs and Brock both lose, which is hardly unlikely, then the next American (or 'black') to get a title shot will be able to play the underdog role behind a seven or eight match (Brewster, Byrd, Beck, Rahman, Barrett, Brock, Briggs) losing streak in championship fights. It will not begin to be mentioned any less at that point. Eventually someone will call themself the 'black Gerry Cooney'. Well maybe not.

The first line of offense doesn't last very long in a war, which I doubt this will be, but metaphorically AND realistically, Briggs loses.
