    Exclusive Jeff Mayweather Interview

If you want the best answer to a boxing question, ask a trainer. Jeff Mayweather is gaining a reputation as one of the sport's best young trainers. We were first introduced to Mayweather as a fighter, a slick technician who faced the likes of Oscar De La Hoya, Joey Gamache, and others. Now, retired from the ring and still only 42 years young, Jeff Mayweather is a noted trainer in his own right. Currently, Mayweather is helping Shannon Briggs prepare for his next fight in Colorado Springs, CO. Briggs will be facing Sergei Lyakhovich for the WBO Heavyweight title on November 4 on Showtime. Besides Briggs, Mayweather also trains The Contender Season Two runner-up Steve Forbes and prospect JD Chapman. [details]

Had to get past the Briggs part then the interview became more interesting, lol.

Its interesting what he says about the Delahoya match.

Should have asked him about the boxers of today besides Floyd, Roger gave some interesting comments i'd have liked to hear what Jeff had to say of todays boxing game. I remember Jeff being a skinny fighter, he looks like a middle weight in that picture.

Yeah, the initial intention of the interview was to get some work for my Briggs-Lyakhovich article, and while I was there I decided to get some more work in as well. Overall, it was a pretty good interview I think. Jeff Mayweather is a nice guy with a really nice sense of humor. I also got some quotes for another subject I'm going to write about, about how sex affects fighters. You don't want to miss it.
