  • Comments Thread For: Jake Paul's Trainer: I Would Be Shocked if Askren Lasts Two Rounds!

Jake Paul (2-0) recently announced that his April 17th opponent will be former Bellator MMA champion Ben Askren. The pay-per-view card will be distributed by Triller, who also put on last November's Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr. PPV event that featured Paul's devastating knockout victory over former NBA star Nate Robinson.

Same here. Askren for all his wrestling skill is not and never will be a boxer.

If he dont stop him itll be a shock to me. Askren is a grappler. He avoids shots to take you to the ground. That takes very little boxing skill. Even an amateur boxer that's decent should out box him. Apples and Oranges here 2 different sports.

I Think this is a clever fight for Logan, facing someone who is a known combat fighter, but can't box at all, so it'll look like a great win to some, in reality, he'd just be doing what he should be doing.

I'd like Logan Paul to fight a legit, decent boxing journeyman of the same weight, then we'll see if he has anything.

People seem to forget Jake is only 23 and this will be his third pro fight. He's fighting better opposition than top fighters at the same point in their careers.

Yes, but he hasn't fought one boxer yet. The first guy, I'd imagine 95% of people on this forum would sleep. The second guy, the basketball player, great athlete, but had no idea how to fight.

This is a step up, but I'd prefer to see him face a real pro boxer of any level.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if the grappler beats him at boxing. Grabbing and holding an Olympian wrestler isn't gonna go as well as against a basketball player. Honestly we don't know what Paul has, because he has literally never fought anyone who has ever won a boxing match. Looks like the biggest hype job ever to me -- the rest of them at least have to come up smashing tomato cans -- I bet most journeymen his size smash him.

I'd like to meet a person who would buy this.Paul hasn't even fought a single fighter.

So if I go spar a few rounds with some legit prospects does that mean I've "earned my stripes"? Flores is talking nonsense which I'm not surprised because he's not the smartest tool in the shed but come on man. Sparring doesn't give you legitimacy as a pro fighter, beating decent opposition in the ring does.
