Comments Thread For: Warrington Nurses Jaw Fracture: Lara War Gives Boxing Plenty To Consider

Josh Warrington's shock ninth-round loss to surprise Mexican package Mauricio Lara caused a divide in opinion about what happened in and out of the ring. Many thought Warrington should have been withdrawn after round four.

Watched the fight afterwards and yea that should have been stopped earlier, it was a prolonged beating and the man from Leeds doesn’t have the power to turn it around for a late KO/TKO. I have a strong feeling he will lose follow up fights and retire within the next year or two. Whoever told him to drop his title and take that particular fight should be SACKED....hint hint

He showed heart but as many say this probably shaved off a few years of the rest of his career. His corner and to a lesser extent the ref failed him.

Let's face it. Warrington was the world of Leeds champion. With only seven KOs and close calls at home, his chances diminished with every mile he traveled. I'll give him credit for going out on his shield, but his skill never matched his heart.

That was a brutal beat down and the fight should have been stopped earlier. His legs were gone after that hellish 4th round. Cong**** to Lara in his big win.

his career is finished NOW. I only hope he, his father and the powers that be can bring forward from the back of their minds the reality and not be blinded by 2 easy knock over jobs and a big cash out( that’s where further damage will be done not to mention the standard of sparring required going forward ), and one last thing if it had been Lara out on his feet at the end of the 4th the fight would have been stopped .. that my friend says it all about the financial , pressure and business greed of
All concerned in boxing and from that perspective it’s out of control and only a potential doller away from tragedy.
