Comments Thread For: Diaz, Rakhimov Within Second-Day Weight Limit, DAZN Main Event Moves Forward

Joseph JoJo' Diaz and Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov are cleared to fight. Both boxers came within the 140-pound rehydration weight limit in place for their IBF junior lightweight title fight, which takes place Saturday evening from Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California. Diaz weighed 139.6 pounds, while Rakhimov was well within the mark at 137.6 pounds to vie for the now-vacant title.

What’s the point of Diaz doing the 2nd day weigh in? Might as well pull a Jacobs and blow it off. He’s not getting the belt regardless. Also the 10% was “split evenly between the other fighter and the CSAC.” What a bunch of thieves. Give the whole forfeited fine to the fighter going up against a guy with a huge weight advantage.

Actually it's only two pounds now, 139.6 to 137.6. Rakhimov got a big purse bump and can claim the belt with a victory. It's a win, win for him. Shame on Diaz but at this point it's only two pounds so no excuses for Rakhimov if he loses!
