  • Comments Thread For: Nordine Oubaali Title Defense In Paris Set, Pending Update On France Borders Reopening

Nordine Oubaali has secured his next fight date and an opponent along with it. Now all he needs is for the universe to cooperate. The reigning World Boxing Council (WBC) bantamweight titlist is due to next defend his belt on March 13 in Paris, marking his first title fight in his home country. Oubaali will face Nawaphon Por Chokchai-a former title challenger from ****kok-sources have informed BoxingScene.com, confirming a previous report from boxing insider Dan Rafael. Hurdles remain in place despite terms having been reached, however; the status of the event is now at the mercy of the French government and the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

I just want to see Oubaali vs Donaire get done already. Is that asking for too much? Winner then faces Casimero or Inoue.

Man I thought fights were hard to make 18 months ago now it is roadblock after roadblock X's 1000 so I just wait till fights get signed and they are doing the ring walk and even then I am concerned. Way of the world for sure. Hope most of the february fights turn out to be but it is asking a lot. If they all come thru it will be a good month for boxing.

Man, why not Donaire immediately just like the original planned fight?

        Thanks Covid19. F U

Rau'shee Warren, Arthur Villanueva, Takuma Inoue, and Nawaphon Por Chokchai for Nordines third WBC 118 title defense is a solid run for any champion in boxing, and Nonito Donaire might follow?! Do your thing Oubaali, dey sleeping on you.

Oubali has just had the worst luck. First he lost the biggest payday and biggest fight of his career and now he has to waste a training camp for a guy he probably really doesn't want to fight with no guarantee of a unification bout in site.

Is that his best win you think? Amnat Ruenroeng the guy who gave Kazuto Ioka his first loss. Runeroeng has a couple other good wins too.

I also see his debut fight was a draw with Sor Rungvisai. Interesting factoid.

Apart from that his resume looks like a padded Thai record though (pad thai?)

Seems like he can punch though.

Amnat Ruenroeng is arguably Nawaphon Por Chokcha best win, although Ruenroeng best weight was 112. Sonny Boy Jaro, former WBC flyweight lineal champion, on paper, is the better name.

Both Runroeng and Sonny Boy were past their prime. Nordine, Oubaali is 34 years old, so you can argue he is also past his best days in the sport -- the fact that hes been having this great rapid success in his mid 30's speaks to his natural superb talent.

A shame that Oubaali started so late in boxing, I guess you have to give Nawaphon Por Chokcha a punchers chance considering Nordine's age and there is no telling of the affects that Corona had on him.
