This fight is a waste of time anyway. Pacquiao needs to fight Spence, Crawford, Porter or Ugas next. And Garcia needs to fight Lopez, Haney or Davis next. It's time to make the fights people want to see happen instead of a bunch of nonsense fights.
BREAKING: Pac/Garcia Not Happening AT ALL, Per Golden Boy

Kind of a waste of time for Manny to fight any top guy now that he's been stripped.
If we're going official, he should be required to work his way back up if he's going to stay in it.
I'd much rather he just retire now and then do whatever exhibitions he wants. Because he's already shown he's perfectly happy to hold up the division at his whim, which isn't good for it.Comment

promoters think the fighters work for them and not the other way around
the two want to fight, they want them to make the fight and then promote it. that is the problem with the long term contracts, the promoter is then looking out for themself and not the fighter.Comment

This isn't a promoter issue.
Golden Boy would likely have zero issue with it if Manny were already retired.
Ryan wanting it to be a real fight is likely their issue. That will hurt Ryan's marketability if he loses his 0, especially to a part-timer.
Here, Golden Boy is doing their job - which is to do things in the best interest of the fighter, NOT just "they want it so do it". That's how you end up with Michael Spinks situations.
And as I posted earlier, it sounds like Sean Gibbons may have gone rogue on this, because Manny's management company basically called out #FakeNews.Comment

Oscar and Garcia need to stop messing around.
They probably already hurt his stock in fighting any of 135's draws.
All of them have expressed a disinterest in even entertaining a fight with him. So, Garcia may end up whinging about "no body wants to fight me" and "they're scared"
but reality is, he f/ucked it up for himself.Comment

It’s Pacquiao though. He’s the biggest star in the sport still even at 42. Even without any belt on the line for a fight of his, it still would be a big deal.Kind of a waste of time for Manny to fight any top guy now that he's been stripped.

I think he'll be fine simply because of his following.Oscar and Garcia need to stop messing around.
