Comments Thread For: Andrew Cancio Injured, Withdraws From February 20 Fight Against Gabriel Flores Jr.

Gabriel Flores Jr. will have to find another opponent against whom he can take a step up in competition. BoxingScene.com has learned that Andrew Cancio has suffered a back injury and has withdrawn from their 10-round junior lightweight fight. The 20-year-old Flores (19-0, 6 KOs), a developing 130-pound prospect from Stockton, California, and the 32-year-old Cancio (21-5-2, 16 KOs), a former WBA 130-pound champion from Ventura, California, were supposed to fight February 20 as part of the Miguel Berchelt-Oscar Valdez undercard.

They should get that kid who challenged Valdez for his title and even dropped him.. Steven Lopez. I think they call him 'blue nose'. That'd be a great effin fight with Flores

Adam Lopez. Blunose. And yeah he's a good fighter with Buddy McGirt. I would like to see him fight again.

Cancio was gonna take him to deep water and drown him. I was convinced that he would give Flores a beating in the late rounds.

            Flores is very ordinary

Agreed. Lopez showed a lot on his fight against Valdez. He gave him hell.

Well dammit. Get Enrique Tinoco or Charles Huerta. Those are solid guys that would probably fight on short notice

What a bummer. This fight was going to be a major step up for Flores.
