Comments Thread For: Hearn 'Very, Very Surprised' Garcia Took Campbell Fight; Says Some At Golden Boy Were, Too

SAN ANTONIO Eddie Hearn didn't think Ryan Garcia would agree to face Luke Campbell, even after the WBC ordered their fight for its interim lightweight title. Campbell's promoter figured Garcia would pursue a less imposing opponent next. Hearn revealed recently that even some executives for Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions weren't convinced Garcia would want to box Campbell next, before they eventually finalized their deal to meet December 5.

I have to agree, Ryan himself had to push for this fight. After watching some sparring film of Ryan getting smacked around, I can understand why. Ryan is getting by on youth, speed, power, everything, but boxing.

Even though I'm not really expecting a lot from him as a fighter since I think he's pretty flawed and kind of lacks in some crucial departments, I still hope he somehow finds a way to win because he's an ambitious young man who's great for boxing and can make some big ppv fights down the line with other emerging stars. Best of luck to him and to the other kid he's fighting and may the best man win.

Lol, Eddie playing his usual mind games. Hoping to cause issues between golden boy and Ryan, as he knows relationship hasn’t always been best between the two parties. Probably hopes he can get Ryan to sign with himself.

He already thinks he’s canelo’s Promoter! When Canelo asked him “Who’s Next”, after he beat Smith, the look on eddies face was almost heartwarming! The joy of been involved with the TRUE BIGGEST STAR in world boxing was evident!

At least its not summer in Texas. 120 degrees in the shade, miles of rising heat as far as the eye can see. Luke might have an edge training in London, Ryan never saw winter before.

Garcia just seems like this good looking guy who is popular with young people. Campbell is a real test for him. If Campbell can take him into the 2nd half of the fight Garcia would be in trouble.

                  What a weasel Hearn is! "I'm not gonna throw anyone under a bus . . . " - but executives at GBP . . . Complete asshat.
