  • Comments Thread For: Ryan Garcia: I'm Here To Conquer This Division, Become Biggest Superstar In Boxing

Ryan Garcia doesn't sound the least bit concerned about boxing Luke Campbell on Saturday night. The brash, unbeaten lightweight contender cannot see anything in Campbell that could conceivably prevent him from facing the top opponents Garcia considers truer threats to him reaching his admirable goals. The 22-year-old Garcia expects to knock out the skillful British southpaw on his way toward bigger bouts in 2021 and beyond.

Assuming he gets by Campbell then props to him if he fights Gervonta Davis next. Very dangerous fight for him.

doubt any if this happens. Real Mexicans (not the groupie Mexican Americans that be on here) won’t support him as he comes off as an attention seeking whore and doesn’t speak a lick of Spanish. His parents don’t even speak Spanish. Not to mention, he’s not better than any if the bigger names in and around his weight class.

"...he comes off as an attention-seeking whore and doesn’t speak a lick of Spanish. His parents don’t even speak Spanish." Your comment perfectly describes Floyd Mayweather, yet "real Mexicans" have much respect for Floyd and hold him in high regard. I do know that Mexican Americans don't get a pass from Mexicans, but not speaking Spanish is not an automatic turn off. They will respond positively to Ryan if he backs up his obsession with media attention and trash-talking with victories in the ring. Mexicans love boxing and appreciate good fighters. We shall see if Ryan delivers.

well Floyd is different because he’s not expected to know Spanish, and he took the angle of trying to antagonize Mexicans to the point that they’d pay to watch him in hopes that he’d lose. You have to be exceptionally good to be able to pull that off the way Floyd did and I’m not sure Garcia is. Especially with the legit fighters in his weight class.

I don't know where Ryan stands in the outstanding crop of young fighters around the 130 lb to 135 lb divisions. It is the best of the last few years. If I had to rank them, I would put Lopez first, followed by Tank, Stevenson, Haney, Garcia, and Berchelt in that order. All are exciting fighters.

I agree and agree with your ranking although I might put Stevenson and Haney over tank based on what appears to be a stronger dedication to the sport. We shall see.

Sounds like a plan/path but I think it’s all what if at the moment

Has potential but will it turn out to be more than just potential?
