Why did Patricia Morse Jarman score round 1 a 10-9? Verdejo knocked Nakatani down, it was ruled a knockdown, and Nakatani didn’t come back to win that round. That’s a 10-8 round.

That's a good catch. First off, that right hand spun Nakatani onto the matt. Secondly, I didn't look at the cards since Naka won by knock out, but that's odd. 10-9 and no doubt about the knock down?

Yes, that's ******. But not as bad as when Holyfield lost the title to Moorer in their first fight - in the 2nd round Holyfield knocked Moorer down and Jerry Roth scored it a 10-10 round! Holyfield lost the fight by one point on Roth's scorecard - had Roth had it a draw Holy would've retained the title via Split Draw. This has always incensed me. I remember in the post-fight review Merchant said, "It is unprecedented in a title fight for a 10-10 rd to be scored when one fighter got knocked down - the singular objective of boxing". Roth used the punchstats to show how much Moorer out landed Holy in the round, but this isn't the amateurs, and nothing he laned on Holy was of any consequence. This was also the round where he felt pain in his shoulder (hence his low output) and was diagnosed with the heart condition after, and retired for a little bit. Holyfield had 2 of the belts at that point (Lennox picked the WBC belt from the trash) - imagine the difference in boxing history if Holy had retired after retaining those 2 belts. Does Foreman still get his title shot? I guess it all worked out in that I was happy for Foreman, and Holy came back to win back titles and savagely destroy Moorer (was in attendance for that one!) but the whole thing still gets me going. Lol.

Just boxing judges being boxing judges. Showing incompetence so that they can get their 15 minutes of fame and tell the boxing world how they score fights outside of the box. They want to be seen as unique and respected for being “tough graders”.

Boxing is a dangerous sport and there is no room for incompetence by officials. These fighters train away from family for a long time, they sacrifice a lot. It’s a shame that boxing scoring is still the way it is. You’d think after all the incompetence judges have shown over the century, they would do something about it, change something.

The nutjob of a judge is lucky Nakatani knocked him out and didn’t instead won by an SD by 1 point. She would have had to explain herself about that 10-9 score. Since Nakatani won, there’s no outrage, no one cares, she isn’t being questioned by journalists and fans. Which I still see as messed up despite Verdejo losing by stoppage.

roth scored round 12 of hopkins-taylor to taylor even though hopkins beat the crap out of him in the round. then we have all 3 judges giving round 10 to ward when kovalev dominated it. corrupt or incompetent? i mean im corrupt and i can do a better job hiding my corruption so what are they doing
