  • Comments Thread For: Teofimo Lopez Eyeing $5 Million In Spring Return To Ring At MSG In New York

Teofimo Lopez Jr. delivered the resounding breakthrough moment of his career that he'd long been promising when he scored a unanimous decision win over Vasiliy Lomachenko in October. The IBF, WBO, WBA and WBC lightweight franchise champion Lopez (16-0, 12 KOs) is currently recovering from surgery to repair microfractures and ligament damage in his right big toe, but he already has his sights set on his return to the ring in the spring of 2021 to continue his takeover.

Loma rematch has to be the best realistic option for April. Unless his shoulder ain’t healed.

Who else is an option? Kambosos? A fight at 140 maybe?

I think Bob wants to take him to Australia to fight Kambosos. But at this point, he is already undisputed, so why would he want to fight his mandatories? He literally can call the shots and fight whoever he wants. If he wants to fight the winner of Ramirez vs Taylor, then I would like to see him go up to 140 and face off against a solid contender before getting his shot at either Ramirez or Taylor.

Why not go ahead and fight Haney. There is the WBC belt that 1 of them has depends on who you ask as to who that is. So I say go ahead and fight Haney in April and that should be a big enough fight for everybody to make money and cancel all the noise from both camps.

I just don’t see it happening with the network and promotional issues. He’d smash Haney anyway, he’s nowhere near that level IMO. I think he’s a major hype job.

In an ideal world I’d like to see Lopez vs Tank but again I don’t see it being realistic cause of the rival networks, promoters etc.

Just don’t really see who’s out there at 140. Would Bob be willing to pay him 5m to fight Zepeda for example?

Well, will Bob pay him 5M against anyone at this point? Lol, maybe against Tank or Garcia on PPV.

I'm real curious to hear Bob's comments about this. The Lopez's have been consistent after the fight saying Bob and rest of TR were sad that he beat Lomachenko. It could get a little ugly but I suspect Bob sees he has a potential star on his hands and will treat him right to keep him for the long run.

Best shot to making that 5 mil is the Loma rematch.
