By Lyle Fitzsimmons - Hard to believe it's been a dozen years. And as I sit this morning watching the outer bands of a tropical storm test the flexibility of my backyard trees, I vividly recall stepping into a rental car in Philadelphia back then and thinking, "Damn, it's cold." But now I'm glad I went.

Anything after Roy Jones going from 197 to 175 and looking like a shell of his former self was a severely diminished Roy Jones Jr. Neither Hopkins (II) nor Calzaghe was in with a prime Jones. And I have even seen Calzaghe himself mention that.

Calzaghe was over the hill in the Jones fight too his hands had gone from memory.

The US and UK were running separate boxing sports at super middleweight in those days.

99% of the people on this forum who seen Roy Jones in his prime against Joe Calzaghe know that he was on a different level than Calzaghe. Jones was a once in a generation talent. Guys like Tarver and Calzaghe would have been easily beaten by Jones Jr. in his prime. No doubt.
