Comments Thread For: Fury: Usyk Facing Big Heavyweight With Pop is Like a Lamb To Slaughter!

WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury was an interested in observer of Oleksandr Usyk's second heavyweight fight, which took place two weeks ago against veteran Derek Chisora. Before he became a world champion for the first time, Fury beat Chisora twice with few issues.

I can't see Usyk being a factor in the HW division.

I can. Except Fury, Joshua and some others, division is full of bad fighters. Joshua is not a great fighter either.

I can see Usyk beating Dubois as well if he can take his shots.

Yeah I would have to agree, Usyk doesn't have the pop to keep the bigger guys like Fury and AJ off him.

Well, if he's not big or good enough to be HW champ, then he's not much of a factor at HW. Maybe he can win a few more fights against some fringe guys, but that's not the goal, is it?

A goal is to try the best, earn respect , money and a belt, maybe. I guess.

Only Tyson Fury and Joshua are true big players, actually.

If you can't gain opponents respect with your punching power then you better be a damn good defensive fighter.

Usyk's stamina & footwork isn't going to hold up over 12 rounds against a man who is 50 pounds heavier than him and rangier.

Usyk is 33 years, looking for his retirement fund.

Most of what Fury is saying makes sense. Apart from the lamb to the slaughter bit. Boxing doesn't always work like that.

Usyk has the same reach as Otto Wallin, but far superior technical ability and conditioning.

Elements of that performance against Chisora do raise serious question marks about how well Usyk may ultimately fair in this division, but it's not a foregone conclusion that he can't give the big boys problems.

If he can beat Parker or Ruiz I'll be a believer.

That's a big if. Honestly I don't see it happening. Dubois has crushing power and a stiff, ramrod jab. If he beats Joyce with few problems, I just don't see Usyk bothering Dubois. Yes Dubois is more flat footed but Chisora is much slower and still was able to land some solid shots and bother Usyk. Usyk gets hit with the same shots against Dubois and it's goodnight.
