Comments Thread For: Jaime Munguia: I Was Eager For Johnson Fight And Learned A Lot

Two fights into his middleweight run, Jaime Munguia is humble enough to admit that there remains work to be done-even if it means learning at the highest level. The latest test for the former junior middleweight titlist came in the form of a firm challenge from veteran gatekeeper Tureano Johnson (21-3-1, 15KOs), whom Munguia stopped after six competitive rounds two weeks ago at Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California. Getting to that point required the 24-year old Tijuana product to walk through hell, overcoming relentless pressure in order to prevail.

I enjoyed his fight, he is still young if his words are true and stick by way of action he could develop. How far is to be seen. At least i did not hear how wonderful a fighter he is, he said he hopes to grow. The truth lies in the following fights some fighters develop not just in skill but in fight spirit, gut and they get that bit of dust that comes from the fighters skies above. Some move up some fall apart takes a lot of parts. Thanks for the write up. W-L-D in the future if that attitude holds true he will be good for boxing.

Munguia's style makes for exciting fights, but this kid is going to be punchy by age 30. He needs to get a real coach who can teach him how to protect his chin. Sorry, Erik, that's not you apparently.
