Kent Cruz could've used rounds while ending a 20-month layoff Wednesday night. Erik Castillo couldn't provide more than two. Castillo declined to continue following the second round due to dizziness he claimed was caused by Cruz's punch behind his head. Nevertheless, the undefeated Cruz recorded a technical-knockout victory in a scheduled six-round welterweight fight FS1 aired from Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

Kent Cruz looked like a million bucks, but lets face it he was fighting someone who didn't belong in the ring with him. I understand that Cruz had been out of the ring for an extended period of time. That said he needs to fight better opposition, this fight taught him nothing. He needs to jump back into the ring as soon as possible, in order to stay active, and relevant. We wont know where he stands in the rankings until he starts fighting competitive opposition.
