  • Comments Thread For: Spence On Fighting Thurman: That Sh-t Ain't Happening; F--k Keith Thurman!

There's one top welterweight Errol Spence Jr. has clearly crossed off his list of potential opponents. There was a time when Spence genuinely wanted to fight Keith Thurman, but the unbeaten IBF/WBC welterweight champion no longer is interested in facing a fighter he admittedly dislikes. Spence made his thoughts on Thurman known when asked about boxing him at some point during the newest episode of "The Last Stand Podcast, With Brian Custer."

Spence a diva, he'll stay ducking once there's a healthy Keith around.

Of course the dude calls out Keith when he's 14-0, that's what he's supposed to do. Keith was fighting bigger names and unifying titles, why would he fight a guy who was a nobody at the time?

Now that the fight is realistic he's going to duck it. I think a healthy Keith is his hardest test at WW.

Thurman ducked Spence for years to the point that he had to go to England to get his first strap and barely got that fight agreed to. I don’t think Spence will ever forget that.

Thurman has no momentum, he needs to win a couple more fights. He didn’t look like himself at all against an older version of Pacquiao. Win a couple more pbc main events on FOX and force the fight. That’s how it works. You’re not supposed to get title shots with a PPV fighter off a loss

I’m a Thurman fan but if Spence is even 80% as good as he was before, he stops Thurman to the body pretty much every time. Spence is all wrong for Thurman.

Thurman needs to make up for his loss to PacMan.... Otherwise I don't mind Spence not fighting him.

Don't real fighters prefer to fight people they dislike than people they like or are neutral about?

Sounds like a duck. Sounds like Spence knows he's finished and is afraid to lose to Keith.

While bfore the crash it was thurman who was ducking Spence. For years. Spence must be finished if he's now ducking the guy who was ducking him.

I agree with Spence. After Thurman takes his first 0, now he's available to fight anyone. All cards in his deck are now gone.

Not liking someone isn't a valid excuse. Now if Thurman can come back and prove himself in a fight or two, I don't see why this fight shouldn't take place.
