Tim Ryan, Gil Clancy, and Ray "Someone could go down early" Leonard were great.

Good read. He was before my time but I'm always looking to learn more about the history of boxing, even guys outside the ring.

Interesting to see he lives a few hours away from here too as there's not even a million people on this island. Small world.

I think so too. But I also think that Leonard, since some time after the Tyson vs Douglas fight he commentated on with Lampley and Merchant for HBO, increasingly became worse over time. It almost seems as though he doesn't keep up with the sport as much as he should be as commentator and sounds very generic to me.

lol, I remember Ray not being held in great regard as an announcer by the various boxing magazines at the time.

Still, I think he sounds like Larry Merchant if you put him next to Lennox. |Maybe he has gotten better.
I really like the old Boxing After Dark guys with Larry, Jim, Manny, and Roy /George. George got better after awhile.
