Comments Thread For: Will Fighting Leo Santa Cruz At 130 Pounds Be Worth The Weight For Gervonta Davis?

SAN ANTONIO Gervonta Davis chuckled Thursday, but he quickly clarified that making weight Friday afternoon is no laughing matter. If Davis doesn't weigh in at 130 pounds or less when he steps on the Texas Combative Sports Program's scale, he'll have to pay a substantial penalty to Leo Santa Cruz. Davis promised during a press conference at the San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter that his perpetual problems making weight won't continue a day in advance of his debut as a pay-per-view headliner.

Hope Davis makes weight and puts on a good performance.
If he comes in over weight it will be used against him as to how he was able to win.
Ppv fighters dont be wanting asterisk marks against their name in these type of fights, esp. when hes a huge favourite.

He can make it but I think it's not worth it. I wouldn't drain myself if I were him, with his title on the line. I don't care about the weight as long as he's under 135.

It gets a name on his record and some people who don't follow the sport might believe this is a competitive fight. He'll get paid.

"What the respectful Santa Cruz couldn’t say was that he hopes Davis drains himself so much to make weight that it’ll impact his performance Saturday night. That’s the type of equalizer Santa Cruz needs to diminish Davis’ advantages as the fresher, stronger, younger fighter."

This is why this fight is interesting! If Tank actually does make 130lbs., LSC might be able to drown him in the deep waters! If Tank does not come in @ 130lbs., I won't be paying for this fight!

When this PPV talk of G. Davis came up I laughed. Then Covid and some other boxing politics played out. I still did not care, it did not interest me. One guy I do not know too much about I have watched him fight more then the other talking G. Davis when he was younger. Leo S.C. fine he has heart, skill is it enough.? Things happen in the ring. So now for my own selfish pleasure I hope Leo S.C. beats G. Davis in a classic boxing style classic with some dirt thrown in. Will I pay no way. I will not support one of the two fighters right now and it is not PPV value. It is Covid PPV not being crude just straight up. But fights to me are about dislike, disrespect, getting what is coming to you. So you wanted PPV and all you can talk about is cheeseburgers Mr. 5 by 5 Look the song up on Youtube if you want. That is my interest in this fight. I care more about the development of some other guys on other cards this weekend but there it is. I will not hide behind a talk about how to loose 10 lbs in 7 days. Let the woman do that.
They got what they wanted the Promo Boys they got a rise, that is what they get paid for. Nothing personal there either.
Fights can be respectful without being friendly

7-1 odds for a Ppv main event! Wat a waste of $ for a Davis/Floyd cherry-pick mismatch...gotta protect that 0 and further pad that over-hyped record!
